Verified Purchase. These work well to hold my boat cover in place. Boat already had the male the screw in studs. I bought a tool from Amazon so I didn't have to take the whole cover off. I used both and both worked equally well. These snaps have held in place for some serious thunder storms with high winds and lots of rain pooling up in my boat cover.
I messed up the first few until I got a feel for what I was supposed to be doing and how to do it. This product works fine. I installed a cover on a side by side with them. Images in this review. Not that it matters in my rating, but the latch on the case was broken when I received them.
Looking at them you would think that they would be a great product. But after using them I was quickly disappointed in their lack of ability to hold securely. A two-year old could unsnap them without any effort. My project wasn't all that needy of a snug fit, but that should at least have a reasonable snugness to them. After installing about 12 of them I decided to just revert to Velcro. Makes me even more suspicious of reviews. Magnet still grabs them but only slightly, not even enough force to pick one up.
I used these for RV skirt with 20oz vinyl fabric. Posts were a little long for the thin fabric which would make them not snap together so I added three little scrap pieces to use as shims to make the fabric thicker.
This worked and they snap and stay together fine now. Note: do not over tighten screws or studs will pop off the screw head.
I used the canvas snap kit to attach vinyl to window frame on our screened porch. When I attached the two snap pieces to the fabric, it didn't create a smooth surface inside for the snap to fit properly on all the snaps.
Since the metal pieces stopped the snaps from fitting together, I used a rubber mallet to help get it to fit and the snap bent, so I guess you get what you pay for, since these cost a lot less than in the marine stores I checked in in my local area.
Put them on my boat seats to replace broken snaps. Used on boat once, rinsed and placed in the covered patio. A couple months later went to use and they were blue and pitted.
One more fell apart after use that day. Maybe ok for home craft but do not bother with this on your boat as they will turn blue and fall apart. Good for light use. Very thin and several have already broken on me. Would not recommend for heavy duty use. I have installed on a hatch cover on a boat using ottertex fabric. Would not buy again for this application. Will see how the hold up in the salt spray. Hopefully will not rust.
