One thing I'm doing different as of late is using different power plugs. I've finally had enough with the corrosion of the marineco plugs, particularly on the boat side. Right now I'm using a basic 10ga two-pole disconnect and I'm not seeing any sign of corrosion in two months of service.
My gut tells me this plug will be the ticket because is pretty much a sealed unit whereas the marineco plug has a lot of open space on the backsides of the plugs. My last effort with marineco plugs was to fill the backside of each plug with dielectric grease, they still died.
Another thing to try is the larger battery disconnects like you see for winches. I have some on hand to try if these basic two-pole plugs don't work. So far I really like what I see. So you will cut each of those in half to have 8 plugs. That'll do four Downriggers and four boat plugs. But pay close attention I did not the first go around after you cut the four pigtails in half you'll have four plugs that are of one polarity and the other four will be the opposite polarity. Be sure to sort them and attach all of the one type polarity to the riggers and the type to the boat.
