If you maintain your jet boat, you can keep the cost of maintenance down, but the routine tune-up costs will add up over time. Jet engine boats can run at both high and low speeds, but when they run at a low speed for a while, it can take it some time to kick it into high gear.

In the same vein, when it is running at a high speed for a long period of time, it can take a moment for it to be able to run at a slower speed. There have also been a few complaints online which state that it is difficult to run a jet boat in reverse when needed. It might seem a little silly to say, but jet boats can be quite impressive when it comes to power and propulsion.

Their acceleration is unmatched, and they have great top-speed of course, depending on how your engine is set Built Model Boats Noise up and what sort of horsepower it is rated for. If you have a family especially with small children , this might be one of the best features for you. The amount of room in the cockpit of a jet boat is significantly larger than a boat which is a sterndrive. Since the jet motors sit lower and, in the back, they allow for more room in the boat for you and your gear.

It seemed like a great idea at the time. Riding a jet ski from LA to San Expensive Model Boats 90ml Diego? Depending on which direction he went, it would have either been 50 miles from Mission Bay to Dana Point to 99 miles from Mission Bay to Marina del Rey. He ended up going out further into the open ocean and took a mile trip on a Kawasaki LX. Kevin summarizes the trip by talking about the beautiful wildlife, the awe-inspiring coastline, and the other happy water-goers near the bays and docks.

Thread starter swatski Start date Apr 30, Tagged users None. I've been newly inspired, lately, by gmtechyz and other' postings on some novel ways to soundproof the boat. I myself have done many expensive and labor intense soundproofing mods Of course - this most recent attempt started as something completely different, lol. I came across it initially when I was messing with my custom WakeMakers ballast install - I was fitting various bags in various spaces inside the hull and, in the process, noticed that some of those bags appear to attenuate engine noise Well, after some more experimentation - I can tell that stuffing "long" lbs ballast bags inflated to the max with air placed inside the back of the rear storage compartments alongside engine bay bulkheads cut the engine noise better than anything else I have tried, so far!!!

Crazy simple, too - basically, I'm using two older style bags that I no longer have other use for. Those are stuffed in the back of the storage compartments pretty much dead space anyway and inflated to fill in the space. I will make some supporting modifications with foam sheets and and polyurethane, but even the crudest attempt yields astonishingly good results relatively speaking of course.

Here are some very bad pics of the bags those are inflated to the max, but sit inside larger outer cases. Strbd: And port: I'll update during the week with some sound clips.

But - the difference is amazing. Such as simple mod! I would say there is easily a factor of drop in sound level during cruising. I don't know to what extent the other soundproofing mods in my boat contribute to this latest success, but I would think it would work well on its own EDIT: Those air-filled bags would be used for regular cruising etc.

Mainah Jetboaters Admiral. This gives me an idea. We had the same problem for the firt time, last week with the barge.

Just back in water It made an awfull racket. Not having a confuser handy I rang Tony Boatone and between us we sorted it out. You will probably have an air lock in the stern gland water way. I just took the pipe off, the water gushed out, then stuck it on again. Problem solved. Others apparently have a squeezy rubber thingy to press. On my boat the stern gland is covered in a rubber moulding.

Then put blue grease on the special little split top hat section plastic applicator. Using the split pop it over the shaft and slide under the rubber and twizzle to transfer the grease to shaft and rubber. Easy,,,, oh, then spend half a day putting everything back. No wonder the dealers boys never bothered.

But the engineer who showed me claimed it was an expensive killer if you dont do it after every lift out and at least every year. New stern gland jobbeee. It was actually done on mine as part of the routine service and I watched his every move to catch tips like this. I am making the assumption that there is no other gland or shaft that requires attention before the boat is put back in the water. Am I making the correct assumption?

The stern gland on my boat is water cooled with a similar pipe connected to a sea cock. Better check if the type of stern gland fitted to your boat needs this bleeding and greasing procedure after lift out. I think I can help you relax on this one. You have what is called in the trade a "whistling propellor".

We have the same problem, appearing in the very same rev band you have encountered. What happens is that a harmonic resonation is set up by the propellor presenting itself as a high pitched whine as you experience. The good news is that it apart from the irritating noise it is not harmful in any way, other than minutely diminished efficiency.
