I put a floor in my Intex Excursion 5 this year. I had to cut it into 4 peaces so it would fit in my car. However, the first time I took it out is was so unstable I did not feel comfortable sitting in a chair. I put hinges between the sections and it seems to help very little. So, the questions is, how do I sure the floor up.
I'm thinking I would put 6 2x4 the length of the boat. If I cut the 2x4 in 24" sections and screw them under the flooring, alternating 3 on each section, so the sections would fit together like teeth.
I would have to put a smooth bracket over the slots the 2x4's would slide into. That should hold them in place keep them from separating. It should provide the stability to the floor, but is that too much under the floor? Should I just start over and make the floor 2 sections with a way to join those two?
