We have been working on this project since the start of term, though it was pushed to the back of our minds for some time while we worked on other projects.
There were a few changes and some confusion that came up over the weeks however I think the end product was better than it would have been without these changes. The first task we were set was to research dementia and different activities that people who suffer from dementia would enjoy, and also find out what could be inappropriate or upsetting. After we had done this research we presented our findings to the group.
In every group there was the idea, that music and singing were good to use when working with dementia sufferers, and this would be the best thing for us to do as we are performing arts students. Other ideas that were popular were memory boxes or themed boxes these would be multi-sensory which we learned was a good way to make sure that the activity was stimulating, talking to the residents of the care home and maybe playing dominos with them or painting their nails.
Including Christmas was also talked about as a possibility one group suggesting a whole room Christmas experience. After this one representative from each group was sent to the care home to discuss our ideas. After being given the feedback for the care home we went back into our groups to discuss what would still work and what would have to be scraped. We worked out a very roughly schedule and what we would do on each day. The original plan was that we go in four days at and do a different item on each.
The one issue with the project is that although it was appreciated by the residents of the care home it would have been nice to perform it to a bigger audience. Also I would also have liked to have worked on the songs a little more with Lizzie as many of us felt less confident with the singing.
The project has given me more understanding about both dementia and the professional world of performance and how adaptable you have to be as we simply walked into to the care home and do the show in the space given with no rehearsal. You can fall into clinched acting so changing things up can make you change how you move and how you say things.
Stop you being scared of lines, release patterns in saying lines to make them sound more natural. I think I would have been more beneficial for me to have used my lines from lungs as they require more emotion and are more difficult to interpret than the lines i have in blue stockings especially as the majority o the lines I say in blue stockings are facts and my character is confident in her answers.

Also since the last rehearsal and thinking about the feedback hilary gave me I think my character has come on quite a bit as I understand her better.
Today we ran the second half of the showcase so this meant running blue Stockings the most interesting part of this was that we got our bloomers to wear and this really helped me feel in character.
The run went well and the bike is now much more controlled. We had the first show today and I think it went amazingly. I felt that this piece went the best as everything ran smoothly and there were no missed lines. I think for tomorrow however I could add a little more expression I think maybe a slight smile when I get the answers right as I feel my character would quite proud of herself and even though she is serious what she wants most is too succeed at becoming a scientist so praise from her teacher would make her feel as if she is getting somewhere.
