This is my first boat, but my father and other family members have always had boats that I helped use, abuse, and take care of. Unfortunately for me, they all had outboards, so a lot of this mechanical stuff is new to me. Most things don't seem that difficult though. As for the boat, I would agree with what you guys said so far. I'm happy that the couple comments are positive, I was starting to wonder if the one I had just didn't have problems yet.
I guess I say that because I don't see many of them around for sale, and prior to me purchasing this one, I had never heard of them. The hull is in great shape and seems to be well built and strong. The boat shows no sign of damage or rot. The owner told me that he could count on his one hand how many times he's had it over rpm's.
Even when I test drove it, he was asking me to take it easy I even talked to the shop that did all the work on this boat for 10 years, and their exact words were, " Damn what a deal, run the hell out of it cause he never did.
The only thing the mechanic did tell me to watch for was if it ever started mis-firing to look to the manifolds for the problem Maybe I can get more info on that in the other section. When I got it I quickly found that the deck had separated from the hull from the bow halfway back to the stern.
The "pop" rivets holding it together were not backed by washers and in the pounding of the rough water. There was no scuffing of the hull or other damage so it had to be wave pounding related. That was the only problem I ever had with the boat. The boat was a great riding, excellent rough water boat. It would handle almost anything you could expect from a boat that size with no fuss. I bought this boat in and only selling because I am moving to where I have no use for it. It is a that the previous owner I bought it from had the engine rebuilt. It is a very good working engine. Since I had it, last year I had the oil completly drained and changed including filter, new distributor cap and cables and new spark plugs it is a 8 cylinder , and replaced the starter 12 April this year since a mechanic I had to fix it last year did a job that only had it working for one time on the water and never came back to fix it, she starts right up and purrs quietly.
Boat is in good condition for a 89 with normal wear and tear, no holes or structural damage. It has a cuddie with sink, frig, stove, stand up shower and toilet. I have not used any of these or tried to work them as I used the boat strickly for fishing. With my working schedule, I have only taking it out about 15 times since I bought it, last being October in the Chesapeake Bay.
The prop that is on there has a dent or two caused from hitting something under the water, it still works fine but I also have a stainless steal prop as well. Boat also comes with a Lorance LMS c df depth, fishfinder, it has gps as well but I dont have the antenna. Also boat has dual battery hook up, two batteries included. I have not done anything with the boat since winter so selling as is but will make sure I start it before selling.
