So I went for it, and with myself, my wife, and two boys, we top out at about 25 with the right prop. I have found it to be perfectly adequate for me. Obviously a 70 would get me to places a ton faster, but I have never once felt frustrated or slow on it. I get it closer to 30 when I'm out alone. I have a Pro Team , had a 9. Wouldnt see over mph with 2 people, it'd plane out with just me and do roughly Replaced the carb with a 15hp carb only difference that year and got the boat on plane and now it does mph with 2 people and with just me I fish primaryly with 2 people so I keep the lower prop on it.
If you have an option to try before you buy, I think used is the way to go if you have cash in hand. I also feel much less bad when i smack a stump in my cheap old boat rather my k new one. I have almost this exact same setup, mine is a with a merc 9. However im runnning with 2 people and gear and maybe with just myself. Most of the lakes around me are horsepower restricted to 10 or less and its what everyone wants.

I switched the 9 prop that came with for a 8, I will tell you i hit a stump with the brand new prop and it knocked my MPH down almost 1.

I just bought this boat from bps and I had a heck of a time finding any good info or reviews on it. For me the 20 hp is perfect as I primarily fish no wake lakes but sometimes make a few trips to larger unrestricted waters.
My boat has not been delivered but I plan to make a detailed review and video on YouTube when I get it on the water. I'll keep you posted when I get that done. I am a guppy. I don't have any extra money upfront to put down on a boat and my wife and I have three kids, and a lot of student loans and other everyday debt so I don't wanna go finance a boat for big monthly payments.
