Self-rising flour has leavener already in it like baking powder or baking soda. You want a plain flour without leavening for brownies.

I hear you about the non-sleeping thing. My kids are now 18 and 16 but I was in your shoes when they were little. And neither one was a super-napper or a stroller dweller. They were up by 5 am no matter what time they went to bed. My sister always made me feel like an abject failure because her kids slept in hour stretches and napped gloriously. Well, my kids are smarter because they spent more hours awake and absorbing the world. Good news for the quick section of your blog already so useful!
For me it is perfect, deep intense flavor, moist, and will keep up for days if it last hehe. By the way, hate nuts in brownies, so I appreciate other people that dont use them! I do pretty much all my baking from scratch, but a completely satisfying plain brownie still eludes me for some reason.
Can sympathize with the non-sleeping child problem. My oldest now 11 was two before he slept through the night. And he was by no means consistent about it until fairly recently.
He still needs far less sleep than most kids his age, and has real trouble falling asleep. He also used to wake up inconsolable. I think it was a transition problem transition from awake to asleep then asleep to a wake. My second child sleeps like a log. Go figure. These are in the oven now and will be the perfect surprise for my boys when they come home after their first day of school.

If you only have cocoa powder, make these. Rohit � I used what I suggested, granulated sugar. It dissolves in the oven. The flour amount is low and much of the structure comes from the eggs. I have looked around and asked around and all i got were confused expressions and people asking me what unsweetened chocolate is.

For the commenter who needed an egg substitute�I have tried making vegan so, dairy and egg-free brownies for vegan friends on numerous occasions. The substitute that I liked the best � which results in fudgier brownie, not a cakey one � is super soft tofu. These were amazing and easy. I have always done Alton Browns cocoa brownies and while good, these are better.

When I was in college, my roommate made your baked brownie, spiced up but accidentally doubled the amount of chipotle powder, which made for some very spicy brownies.
She put them in the freezer with the intent of making mole sauce with them, but instead I single-handedly ate those spicy brownies right out of the freezer every time I walked by.

I like adding a bit of espresso powder to brownies too, though I think that is because so many are not as chocolately as desired.

My brownies turned out really cakey. I used brown sugar because that was all I had on hand, and I only used 1 cup of it to dial back the sweetness factor.
I just put this recipe into the oven. The batter was amazing. So thick and dense. It smoothed out really well and had a nice glossy chocolately color. I cannot wait to try these as they come out of the oven. This is my first time using unsweetened chocolate too. I plan to eat this with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. Love these brownies. Definetly trying this. I sware by cinnamon and nutmeg in all my baking, wonder if they would make these taste better than they already look!

They were delicious. I baked them at right around 23 minutes. They were just a little underdone but paired well with the ice cream. The top was a little bit crispy but not too sweet at all. I have a Pyrex version and while I have all the ingredients at home, I draw the line at buying a new pan in order to make brownies. TV show fame. My son also never napped longer than 40 minutes ;.

Yes, I said winter. Living in an old NYC building is just weird. Sometimes overbaking can make things cakier. Sugar does in fact add moisture, too, so a little less could leave the brownies less moist. I can still remember whipping up a batch in a particular red enamel bowl that I still use in about while listening to the radio soap opera that came on about 11AM every day.

I let them set for a few hours. While those sat I used the few other things left on the list. Polish remover, worked a little but left marks on the metal. Vaseline helped some but really had to scrub, toothpaste, vinegar, and windex did nothing. Goo Gone- worked some but lots of scrubbing.
Clean Magic Eraser- did no good It was time to try my oils. None of them even touched it, and now I had a big oily mess. So I cleaned off all the stuff and let it dry. I got a flat edge piece of plastic and scrapped the adhesive, it came off in big clumps!
I did that a few times them wiped all the oil around some more, washed it all off and figured I would apply the oil one more time, but when the metal was dry there was NO MORE adhesive!! This stuff was amazing, plus it cleared my sinuses. It contains all sorts of oils. Great tips! Any other good ideas? Works for me. If you are having a hard time removing stickers and sticker adhesive off your windshield, perfume will do the trick.
It worked for me. I wanted to re-use an old oil bottle for something else and was so happy when I found that Simple Green worked. Cheap and is a green product. I hope it helps others.
I had those annoying stickers on my motorcycle tank which peeled off but left a gummy residue that came right off with some petroleum jelly! I let it sit for 5 minutes then rubbed with paper towel. Some of it came off, but the rest came off with a little more jelly and thumbnail. Yee haa! I had a beautiful white pashmina I bought, and when I peeled off the sticker, it left a glue mark which immediately because a black rectangle of gathered dirt.
I used the mixture of baking soda and water until a gritty consistency was formed , rubbed it into the glue, and was able to scrape the whole thing off fairly easily. After, I just dusted off the excess baking soda and it was fine! I bought a mirror today and there was a huge sticker on the bottom of it, first of all i tried to remove it with nail polish remover didnt work then tried hairspray didnt work and finally i tried wd- 40 and it worked a treat, i didnt even need to scrub it, came off with the wipe of kitchen roll, thanks for the great idea :o.
I was reading this and I thought that perfume was a stupid idea, and would just make a mess. I was desperate though after trying most of these, so I tried it. I would suggest using perfume first! I just spread peanut butter all over the residue, wiped off the peanut butter with a warm cloth and scrubbed the residue off with the cloth.
For the dried on rubbery, thick glue from a previously installed glued on shower wall caddy I did the following: saturated the glue strip with Goo Gone, held a paper towel over it a few seconds and then used a thin, flexible plastic ruler not a stiff ruler and scraped at the edges.
Kept redoing this and it came off. Finished off with a Magic Eraser. You could probably use a stiff plastic spatula instead of the ruler. This was a fiberglass shower insert. To take off sticky sticker from glass bottle: 1 I first heated the glass in hot water to remove sticke 2 Then to remove the glue i put a light coat of vasaline and then used Acetone nail polish remover with a bit of rubbing and the glue came off like magic!!
Having spent the best part of an hour trying to remove the reamians of double-sided sticky tape from my sons door using nail polish remover and then baby oil, WD finally came to the rescue and cleared it in five minutes. Does anyone know which solution would be least damaging? I soaked my plastic key cards the hotel kind in water with windex. This was not enough to change the color, but quite a few sprays. The residue gets easier to remove the longer the are in there, so far there have been no ill effects.
I have had them in for about 3 days now. I still have to scrape them, but it actually does something now. Peanut Butter!!! My wife tried nail polish with no success and once she tried peanut butter, the sticky substance came off right away. We are sold on peanut butter!! I used it just this past weekend 2 remove duct tape goo from husbands side mirror of truck which is some kind of plastic I then cleaned up the oil with rubbing alcohol. Peanut butter: genius!
Thank you, people! It worked fast and absolutely effectively on several large adhesive spots on an otherwise beautiful new coffee-maker. I had sticker residue on a new shirt that had been accidentally washed with the sticker on it.
I was about to throw the shirt away, thank you, the cooking spray worked!!!!!!!! Wow, tip 8 really helped, although I used a I used pure tea tree oil on a metal, factory painted, horizontal blind header. Not only did it remove the adhesive, it removed the paint. It desolved the paint and left residue on my fingers as well.
WD works for typical price tags and such. Nothing will remove it until I tried some nail polish remover on, it dissolved all the goo instantly. Works really good. You dunno how many binders folders ive thrown away because of the stickers crap:L. I was already gonna throw away my new folder i bought yesterday because of the sticker i put on it..
Heheehe ;b thank you! I tried an eraser and picking it off with my nails. I ended up trying Tea Tree Oil and it worked perfectly. On clear plastic use Vaseline on a Qtip�apply small amount to sticky residue, wipe with dry paper towel. Repeat if necessary. Polish sparkling with old T shirt. Concentrated Basic- H works on all kids of sticky messes! Brand new butcher block counters, 2 year old put duct tape on� yikes� about 4 drops of the magic gold in a bottle and it was gone!
I was having trouble getting the thermal compound off the heatsinks on my xbox I tried alcohol, acetone, Windex and Dawn. The Dawn helped a little bit but there was still a thin layer. I spread a layer on each one and left it on for several minutes. I could see a major difference. After two more applications the compound was completely gone.
Peanut butter is amazing! I just finished removing a 4 inch sticker from a stove we just purchased. It took about a half an hour, with reapplication of peanut butter to break it down. It definitely works, and it is my new ticket to sticket removal. I just used almond oil. I just poured some on a paper towel, and it took just one minute of rubbing to remove all the glue.
I used a pencil eraser all I could find at work to remove the sticker residue from a pair of reading glasses. It was a bit of work, but got it done! I used the masking-tape on a gift that had sticky residue frome the price tag.

Now I saved 90 bucks! SGD 90 as in the price of a new lid that is. The sticky came right off! Pour salad oil on to the sticky pad. They will be free in a few minutes and you will feel great about it. Skip all the other crap and use peanut butter.
I applied, let sit about 30 sec. I got some rat glue on my hands and cleaned them with a cloth. Later I forgot about it and used the cloth on my laptop, since then I cant remove this stuff.
I thought acetone would do the job but it was no use. I work in an office and there was a great deal of duct tape residue left on some plastic walling. I looked through my bag, hand cream didnt work but I had some solid lime perfume with jooba jooba in and managed to get it all off using that and some thin tissues. You all are great with your suggestions.

Did the trick for me. Many thanks to Shannon for his helpful suggestion. I am trying to get the glue residue off of an old vintage tablecloth label. Will lemon oil work the best? It gave me a shock! I had this disgusting sticky goo left on my pencil when the label came off� So i tried using hand lotion That was closest to me at that time and it worked like MAGIC! Cooking spray Pam worked wonders for me!
It removed tape residue instantly from the toe of a shoe cleat that I bought at a garage sale. I had a stubborn price sticker on a factory-sealed videogame. It worked like a charm. WD40 worked great! Smells though. Wahses off easily with soapy water. I tried peanut butter and seemed like it was working but a little slow to react and messy. I glued it on backwards. Try coconut oil if you have it on hand. I read through some of the posts and was about to try peanut butter, but noticed someone else said they used eucalyptus oil, and decided to go with coconut oil, and it worked!
I wiped it all over the area and then took a paper towel and wiped it in circles for a little bit and it came right off. I said let me give it a try.
I have tried so many other things before. I just took the screen protector off my phone because it was falling off and getting dirt and everything under it, plus that looks tacky. I used iron on vinyl on a piece of cloth, well I obviously did it wrong because some of it was pulled of with the paper and either did not stick or stuck and partially pulled off.
Needless to say I need to take it all off. Does anyone have any advice on how to get this off my fabric?
Thanks a lot guys. Peanut Butter worked very well on my car. I let it soaked for 15 minutes, then I used hair drier. Then, more peanut butter and hair drier, ultimately everything was gone. It was aprox. It worked also for other stains on the car. It is very easy and requires no effort, this way. Then I follow up by cleaning as normal, the whole window or mirror with the cleaner. My stickiest, yuckiest problem is the hanging fly trap. I absolutely hate hanging them � I am sticky no matter how careful even wearing plastic disposable gloves I still get it on me.
The first was a scarlet macaw, the second was a baby green cheek conure. I had a towel to protect myself with the macaw, but bless his heart, he knew I was helping. The only safe way to remove that sticky residue has been cooking oil.
I use canola and it worked great both times to remove the majority from the birds and all from me. I bought a second hand furniture that had sticky tape on �I thought I would have to get it re varnished�. No need now. Another peanut butter vote. I used peanut butter on a Q-tip to gently cover the area, let it sit for a minute, and then cleaned most of it up with a clean Q-tip. Cleaned the area with a mildly soapy computer cloth and the laptop looks like it came out of the box.
Only tricky part was keeping our pup from licking off the peanut butter but it works like a charm. I tried Goo Gone � nope! Then, baby oil � uh uh! But Mr. Clean started right up. It sparkled after the Mr. I had an annoying sticker residue on my laptop. Vanished it with toothpaste. I would suggest it over peanut butter as it smells good and you dont have to waste delicious peanut butter!
I have used a lot of different things to try to take labels off of old medicine bottles, etc. That stuff beats vegetable oil, dish soap, and Goo Gone! I had dried sticky tape residue on the border of my computer desktop PC screen, however I was tempted in using nail polish remover but didnt want to use anything harsh so I used the Peanut Butter method and it worked a treat!
So I decided to use peanut butter. It worked like a charm! I just took a little on my finger, rubbed it on the area, and the adhesive residue was gone; and best of all, no oily residue afterward to have to scrub away, just minimal soap and water cleanup.

Tea Tree Oil work like magic I bought a game from Gamestop and their sticker left behind this horrible adhesive that would get dirty with every touch so I tried ice which sometimes works, but it fail, nail polish remover did absolutely nothing but i had tea tree oil and I first thought impossible, but let me give it a try and it Work!!! Absolutely amazing YAY!!! None of these work on sicky stuff left on plastic folders by the stickers�..
Tried them all. My mom use it once when my brother put gum in my hair, saved me from much humiliation. Got a really nice golf club for my boyfriend for his birthday. Thanks tipnut, and everyone who said to use peanut butter! I spread it on, and used a toothbrush to scrub off the sticky glue. I suggest using a minimal amount of the peanut butter, and it really works amazing! Nothing else was working � paint thinner, rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover!
Yay for all natural! Of course, using a sponge or brillo pad to attempt to remove it would result in shredding or grating it! Peanut butter worked like a charm to remove price labels sticky residue on the polished side of petrified wood. Amazing works like magic, tried like� 10 other methods and a bit of rubbing and voila not a single mark!
Great method will know to use this from now on! I just bought glass storage containers and there were labels on the glass and on the plastic snap tops.
I tried removing the labels and it just left part of the paper and of course the sticky glue on the glass and plastic snap tops of the containers.
For the sticky glue on the glass I left the containers in hot soapy dish washing liquid for about half an hour and they came off like a charm with no residue left on them. Thanks for the tips. I had sticker residue on my metal iPod backing, and I tried everything to get it off! Turns out vegetable oil does the trick! Just a little but on a wash rag worked instantly!
Just removed the packaging off my new silver coloured fridge freezer and there is some white sticky tape left behind. Please can anyone advise me what I should use? Had metal tape on a linoleum floor. It Wooden Kitchen Table Legs 10 had been on for a long time and had gotten wet underneath so it was pretty much glued on. Scraped it off with the handle of a plastic fork then used a dab of nail polish remover then used baking soda and water paste. Came right off and the baking soda did an amazing job cleaning the floor.
Going to clean the whole floor with baking soda now. It looks and feels as though someone has used sticky backed plastic on it in the past. If not has any one any other ideas? Just used nail polish remover on my iPod touch to get rid of the residue from the Ghost Armor I had on it.
Worked like a charm! I just used nail polish remover on shoes with a plastic sole and it worked fine. Sticky credit card sticking to all other cards. Only had WD Sprayed on put kitchen towel under it.
Left 5 minutes. Wiped off. Job done. Followed by wipe with a damp cloth. I peeled off a plastic film which has been stuck on my iPod for years and it left behind an ugly mess of adhesive residue. I then rubbed some butter on the metal surface, left it for a while, before cleaning it away. Worked suprisingly well considering it was a mad idea! I have this expensive purse made out of nylon and possible pleather. It fell behind a machine that heated the purse and release the glue on the straps and put it all over the nylon and pleather etc. What best advise would you give to remove this sticky glue from this type of fabric would you use.
The peanut butter definatly works. I had sticker residue stuck on some plastic and WD40 worked like magic. I sprayed it on and let it sit for 5 minutes, then after some vigorous wiping I was able to get it all off. Peanut butter worked great on craft glue and sparkles used for 1D posters. This stuff has been on my table for months, I used everything or so I thought.

I had been struggling with tape residue on a plastic Easter egg that even Goo Gone would not touch! The residue was so tough that it actually seemed bonded to the plastic itself! I put masking tape on the plastic coping around my pool so I could keep paint off it while I panted my deck. It was on there for several days and I had to use a heat gun to get the tape off, but it left the sticky on the plastic coping. Any ideas of what will work to remove it. I have about ft. About 2 inches wide. I use Epoxy And Lacqeur Thinner and a stiff nylon brush for jobs such as this. Try a small test area first to ensure its safe.
Available at Hardware and Paint stores everywhere. I had a very very old wooden Bible where the binding had fallen apart and someone long ago taped it together. The tape had disintegrated leaving just old dried out adhesive behind. I tried a small amount of lighter fluid but it did absolutely nothing. Right after I applied it to my stickers, I was immediately able to just rub them off with the surface of my thumb. I was at it for hours using the other methods, but in two minutes, I was able to get them off using a Borax-Water solution. Cooking oil worked for me! My suitcase handle had sticky residue on it from when I removed the duck tape that I had wrapped it with. I rubbed cooking oil on it, which removed the residue, then soap to remove the oil, then wiped it dry with a clean cloth.
Will any of those work on a wood surface? Any oil will work on surfaces that are not affected by oil stains. That might account for the peanut butter because of whatever oil is in there, depending on the brand of peanut butter. Really, any old oil will do � I tried it once on a glass jar that had part of the label on it, and actually used oil I had used to make french fries, and it worked like a charm.
I peeled off my bumper sticker okay, but it left some glue gunk on my car. After looking at the comments about Peanut Butter I tried it�and man did it work. It goes on smooth, removes so easily and that glue gunk just slides off with it.
When you actually remove the peanut butter and glue, I recommend you try to spread the peanut butter as you wipe. I used olive oil on plastic, let it sit while I did other things and it all came off. I used hot water, a razor I know, I shaved my jar , nail polish remover, duct tape, and then finally magic eraser and it worked. Use a blow dryer. It will heat up the gunk just enough and then use your finger nails or a razor blade depending on what the item is to remove the gunk. Works like a charm. This is how I get the stickers off without hurting the glassware.
Only one thing got it off. Berrymans B12 Chemtool carburetor cleaner. Can get it at WalMart. I have a leather bag that had a sticker from an event that happened in my school. I used vaseline on the residue and it worked just as good. Mayonnaise is great for getting off sticky stuff left by labels.
