This one was more difficult than my previous build however the challenge kept me thinking and when a problem arose It brought out my problem solving side and I persevered. I enjoyed dramatically seeing the build come together. Had one small problem with the transfer shaft that kept wanting to come out as it has no fastening to hold it in so I improvised and drilled a hole in the end and made a disc slightly larger than the shaft and using one of the spare pins attached it to the shaft and the problem was solved.
I don't know if I missed something in the instructions but could find no way that that shaft was secured from sliding back and causing a disingage of the gears. Can't wait for my new order to build the rest of the marble run puzzles. Wow it blew me away when I opened the box. So well made, excellent quality. Instructions are easy to follow. The completed locomotive will look amazing.
Wouldn't hesitate to buy another set. It was challenging and enjoyable. The top of the ladder needed modification in order to have the marble drop I notched the top of the wall or the marble would not drop.
I broke one of the track supports because of the odd angle to install and supported it with glue and toothpicks. The track works well with the modifications and fixes. I am looking forward to my next one. Spouse and I put this together in about 4. It was an unmitigated delight!
Everything fit, the instructions were clear, and we only had to go back once to fix a mistake where we'd missed a piece. The marble-lifter has a habit of sometimes picking up two marbles and sometimes only one, but that's not really a problem. The thing works and is lovely. This is a very sturdy marble maze.
I purchase 4 of these. One for each of my children and their families. I assembled the 4th one in about 5 or 6 hours and really had a great time doing it. I highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys putting things together as these are very well made.
I ordered this for my son for his birthday. I just gave it to him yesterday and he loves it. He hasn't put it together yet but I will update review with pictures when he finishes it. My 10 year old grandson is putting together. So far, so good. My son loved it! It took him about 4 hours to put together and we have both played with it. I love it. I'll be ordering more for him.
Some areaS could use more support beams None the less device is working well. He really enjoyed putting it together. The quality is excellent as well. I really enjoyed building this model and figuring out a few different challenges. Overall, the model worked great, except for one issue with the elevator. The elevator reached to the to with the bearing, but I had to tip the platform slightly to push the bearing onto the slide. I had to add 1mm to 2 mm to the lifter in order to allow the bearing to offload on its own.

Impressive engineering! It would be interesting to know how many CAD hours and how many iterations were needed to achieve this design! In spite of the great engineering, one problem with thin plywood remains the amount of warpage that can occur. A day after unwrapping the shrink-wrapped panels, the thickest showed more than a small amount of warp. Since this panel contained the main vertical support pieces I was worried that the result would be interference of the moving parts attached to them.
Yes that did happen, but I was able apply enough gentle force to get the assembled model to hold its shape so the mechanical parts would work smoothly. It continues to function very well for a week now.
It might be helpful to include instructions on how to flatten a warped panel before removing parts from it. I have read of some buyers wetting and pressing the panels flat while drying them. Since this is probably a common problem at least in dry climates a remedy should be offered as part of the instructions. Learning to be so so very careful and patient with the wood makes me a new person!!
Working on placement of the moving parts takes more patience. But once completed and tweeked, it worked great!! I got this for my very brilliant 5 year old grandson. This was a gift for my nephew who was so focused on putting together he didn't pick up an electronic device for over 6 hours! Fun and challenging, looking forward to doing another.

Hubby and son spent about 6hours putting the project together. They had a great time. Just a note: my hubby has early dementia and this kept him well occupied.
