They just did not age well and with the continuing problems I just can not buy Tidewater. I did look at the Wellcraft and the Cobia. Did not like the look and layout of the Wellcraft but fell in love with the Cobia. We have been back to see the Cobia Boats three times and looks like that will be our choice. The dealer that sells them must have Tidewater Boats on the lot.
Says he sold them for seven years selling something in excess of boats. He did not say a bad word about Tidewater but he did get me on comparison models and show me the differences.
Cobia is a much better quality, fit and finish boat. Not saying your boat is bad just that the Cobia boats really look well build. The size difference is amazing. The Cobia sitting next to a 25 Tidewater looks bigger, not as wide but bigger in most other ways. The big finished front opening head with a real toilet and sink sold my wife. We have a demo ride on a Cobia this coming weekend. I think this could be the one finally. About pricing. The Cobia Boats were just a little bit more but I think worth the differance.

I am coming up on 2 years with my boat and just hit hours and I absolutly love the boat. Yes my engine failed but that was a Yamaha issue and Yamaha covered the whole thing. I had some minor issues that I took care of myself, which could happen to any boat. Yes I have a big problem with my powder coat but Tidewater has been phenomonial with trying to get me help with it. I can tell you right now that I couldn't be happier with Tidewater in every aspect of it.

I fell in love with the Bay Max at its price point. Came home and did tons of googling looking for info on them and quickly stumbled on to the threads of new owners exposing their problems. It does appear that it's really just 2 or 3 owners that have posted their issues in several places , but it seems like a lot of bad press for Tidewater.
